Reviving Abandoned Olive Groves: a Regenerative Approach in Spain

Join me as I talk to Julian Rivera, who cares for abandoned olive groves. Julian shares his story of how he came to live in Spain and got into agriculture. He talks about his approach to regenerative agriculture, which involves letting the cover crop grow, not tilling the soil, and using pruning as mulch. Julian explains that the traditional approach in Spain is to keep the land clean, but he believes this is not necessarily a sign of healthy or productive land. He brings his knowledge of ecology and nature conservation to the olive grove, working in harmony with plants and the soil. In this beautiful setting, we also briefly discuss the almond tree blossoms. To learn more about Julian’s approach to olive grove care and the benefits of regenerative agriculture watch the video and check out the next installment where he will explain how to prune olive trees.
