Dr. Konstantinos Blazakis

Dr. Konstantinos Blazakis is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Horticultural Genetics and Biotechnology at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania. Dr. Blazakis holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Sussex, UK. His research interests combine applied mathematics with scientific computing, as applied to plant phenomics, plant biology and cell imaging, morphological analysis and cell motility. Dr. Blazakis has worked toward setting up common protocols for morphological analysis of olive fruits, leaves and endocarps using standardized vocabularies and methodologies. One of his research objectives is to helpfully advance the development of computer-image-based techniques that could describe the plant phenome and the whole morphology of different crop species.
