Well, that certainly makes sense, since, for example, if cover crops grow beneath olive trees, especially in hilly areas, they would help prevent  erosion.

There are many many studies proofing that agroforestry can reduce soil erosion. I would compare it to a natural forest system where many levels of plants are present. This certainly protect the soil from factors leading to erosion such as wind and rain. We should always try to mimic the nature.
